Frequently Asked Questions
Can I dim LED bulbs?
At the moment our LED bulbs cannot be dimmed. Doing so will actually damage them permanently and will void the warranty so please do not attempt to do so. If you are installing the LED bulbs on a switch with a dimmer, we recommend removing the dimmer and replacing it with a traditional light switch.
Can I replace all the bulbs in my house with LED light bulbs?
Technically, YES! All our LED bulbs are designed to screw or plug into existing sockets.

LED bulbs are best for places where you need directional light. If you're looking to light a section of a room, LED's are GREAT. If you're looking to replace a traditional incandescent or CFL bulb, say in a floor lamp, that will light a whole room (all around light), then LEDs aren't a great replacement. The light from LED’s is much more focused than a regular light bulb and so are more practical for certain applications than others. LED’s are a perfect replacement for lighting that uses very inefficient small incandescent bulbs such as night lights, reading lamps, task lights. Also areas where focused light is required such as recessed cans, accent lighting (to highlight certain areas such as a product display or art) and wall wash lighting are good candidates to replace with LED bulbs.
Can I use LED light bulbs outside?
All our bulbs, unless specifically mentioned are rated for use in indoor environments only. Using Eternaleds LED bulbs not specified for outdoor use, can cause them to function incorrectly, die prematurely and will void their warranty.
Do LED bulbs come in warm colors like traditional incandescent bulbs?
Yes! LED bulbs typically come in 2 colors. Cool White and Warm White. The "warm white" of our bulbs can vary however - from a VERY warm white (around 3000K color temperature) to a more "soft white" colors (around 3500-4000K). The best way to tell which color works for you is to look at our side-by-side picture comparisons in our product description.
How come the 'Lumens' light output of your 10W LED bulb is so much less than the 50W incandescent bulb it is "supposed" to be replacing?
Lumens is a poor way of comparing an LED bulb to traditional incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. In applications like a recessed/down light, LED bulbs send all their light straight down so NO light is wasted unlike traditional bulbs that are typically sending alot of their light straight back into the can. This means that these bulbs will be wasting light and only using say 70% of their rated "lumens", while LED bulbs will be using ALL their "lumens" for light. For more information, see our article about comparing lumens between an LED and CFL bulb.
What are the best places to use LED lighting?
Replacing small inefficient incandescent bulbs - such as night lights, reading lamps, task lights and pathway lighting.
Focused light areas - such as outdoor porch lighting, accent lighting (to highlight certain areas such as a product display or art), wall-wash lighting landscape lighting are also well-suited for LED lighting.
What is your warranty and how does it work?
We believe in the quality of our products and our high quality manufacturing process so we put a two-year warranty on all our bulbs. Warranty return details are outlined in the "Help" Section under "Guarantees".
